What Playwrites say about The Last Play Standing

"The Last Play Standing Competition was a lot of fun and allowed me to further develop my play with a great bunch of people. The review was concise and comprehensive and the feedback very valuable for development. The company was candid, frank and supportive, and I would recommend this competition as a very helpful tool in developing a play." Annette Lee, Happy Talk Winner LPS 3

All feedback on something you've written is good feedback, but feedback from the crew working on THE LAST PLAY STANDING is better. They came at me with strong opinions on what they thought about my play Namaste, but were respectful enough to know it was personal. Encouraging not degrading, LPS made me want to get into rewrites, rather than dreading the thought. Most importantly. ACT understands that my job as a writer is to bring my own idea's and stories to life through the script, and that their job is not to rewrite my story, but to shed light on it from a production company's point of view to help me get my show closer to something a greater audience will enjoy. Instead of "Suit critiques artist," working with ACT was "Artists helping artist." Joe McClean Round 2 Finalist LPS 3

"The workshops were very effective in exploring the motivation in the text and accomplished quite a bit in such a short time." David Alex, Onto Infinity, Jeff Committee Member, ITA Secretary, and Award Winning Playwright

"Keith Beck is definitely one of the most talented directors that I've run across and the actors are extremely well trained. During the readings, I sat next to patrons of live theater in Chicago and they were amazed, like me, at the depth of [his] ability to bring out the best of each scene with so little preparation. " Nikos Vlachos, Finalist The Bed, Award Winning Playwright

Directors Notes: The Last Play Standing 2008 (LPS3)

The Last Play Standing 2008 is .... Happy Talk by Annette Lee!

The competition was fantastic. The audience talk backs extremely fascinating and in the end Happy Talk prevailed.

About the scoring, I am sure your looking and going huh? The metric measurement takes into account all audience members if one script has larger houses for the performances both audiences must score similarly to ensure victory.

Thank you Chicago for embracing the Last Play Standing. We had several sold out houses because of your patronage.

Redtwist Theatre a thousand thank yous!
(SEE TRUE WEST! SEE GLEN GARY! AT REDTWIST!)
